How your NVQ is completed

1
Registration & induction

Complete our form, send ID, and get paired with a dedicated assessor. We’ll explain the evidence requirements and portfolio system.

2
Gather evidence

Upload photos, videos, site documents, and witness testimony to your online portfolio. Your assessor guides you throughout.

3
Complete & certificated

Once all evidence is signed off, you receive your CITB‑approved NVQ diploma – usually within 4–8 weeks.

What to expect from the NVQ

You’ll fill in a registration form and provide a copy of your photo ID. Once enrolled, your assessor schedules an induction to explain the portfolio and answer questions. You can start any day – no fixed intake.

You’ll use our online portfolio system. Your assessor will ask you to complete knowledge questions (written or via discussion) and gather workplace evidence: photographs, videos of you working, copies of site documents, and a witness testimony from a competent person.

When your assessor is satisfied that all evidence meets the standards, they’ll submit for internal verification. You’ll receive your CITB‑approved NVQ diploma – usually within 4 weeks if you work consistently.

This NVQ is for people already employed as dry lining finishers or in similar finishing roles. All evidence must come from real site work – it cannot be simulated. Your daily tasks should involve taping, jointing and finishing plasterboard surfaces.

You’ll complete mandatory units covering core finishing skills, plus optional units tailored to your role. Your assessor will help you select the right combination based on your daily work.
